The SPARTAN School

The SPARTAN School is not just an education and outreach wing of our company, it is a vital part of keeping SPARTAN vibrant, energetic and constantly replenished.

There is a natural relationship between the training of actors, directors and writer and the production of high quality theatre.  By making that relationship an essential part of our company, we are constantly reminded that our training is never over, that working in the theatre and the arts should be a continuing process of Life Long Learning.

At present, The SPARTAN School offers weekly classes in Practical Aesthetics for actors, directors and writers of all level from beginners to experiences professional performers.  Classes began in July 2008 and are currently coming up for their 1st Year Anniversary.

Our stated educational goals include:

  • Sharing our working aesthetic and ethos within formal and informal channels of education.
  • To advance, improve, promote and maintain the education of adults in the arts, particularly in the areas of the dramatic and performing arts.
  • To provide a range of training opportunities in the performing arts, particularly acting, directing and creative writing.
Education isn't a box to tick on an application form, to us, it is an inherent part of the theatre-making process.  We develop tomorrow's performers, writers and directors through the good practice and sturdy training they receive now.

Formal and information education is an essential part of our progress as individual artists.
